The State Government is changing the penalties for exceeding the speed limit on 1 September 2012.
Speeding increases the risk and severity of crashes and reducing speeding will save lives and injuries on our roads.

Speeding penalties from 1 September 2012 include:
- The expiation fee for the lowest offence will reduce from $260 to $150 and demerit points will double from 1 to 2.
- Higher demerits and expiation fees for higher level offences.
